Don Julio Añejo was conceived by Don Julio Gonzalez as a tequila to be savored slowly, like a fine cognac or an old whisky. Aged for 18 months in bourbon-filled American white oak barrels, it was originally reserved for celebrations with friends and family. In fact, it was one of the first añejo tequilas to be deliberately developed for the art of pure tasting, breaking with the tradition of tequilas intended exclusively for cocktails. The founder insisted that each barrel be tasted individually before blending, to ensure the perfect balance between agave and wood.
